I think it was the summertime
When I laid eyes on you
I didn't even know your name
Somehow we'd end up in the same room
It never crossed my mind
I never saw you like that
I should've listened to my best friend
She knew it would be a perfect match

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

The humid heat of summer wafted though the small café. Air conditioning broken and not enough menus to go around Lucy sat at the counter with Levi, Mirajane stood behind it; slinging beers down the counter to the overheated customers.

Levi waved a menu in her face as she let out an exhausted sigh. Lucy looked at her, envy in her brown eyes as she stared at the menu in the blue-haired girl's hand. How could she obtain such a glorious item without being smacked on the head?

"It's so hoooot!" Levi complained as the menu moved faster.

An opening!

Lucy snatched the menu from Levi's hand, hugging it to her chest as she turned away and began fanning herself. "Ahh, sweet bliss."

"Hey." Levi could only glare at the blonde. She was too overheated for the thought to smack Lucy to even enter her head. The blue-haired girl turned to her friend behind the counter. "Mirajane can't you at least open a window in here?" She asked as she discarded her customized jean jacket, customized being arms ripped off and half of the length of the whole jacket gone.

"It won't do any good," Mira said as she tied her hair up with a ribbon. "The only thing that will come in is more humid air."

"Stop talking about humid air!" Lucy said as she smacked the menu down on the counter. Useless thing.

The bell on the door dinged as another customer decided to way their chances in surviving in the café. Mira looked towards the newcomer and smiled, "Can I help you?"

A deep chuckle filled Lucy's ears as a young man leaned on the counter next to her, "Mira you don't have to act like you don't know me," He said.

"Sorry, café orders."

"Whatever, just give me a water."

Lucy glanced at the boy as Mira walked to the back to fetch his order. He was tall, muscular, wore nothing but a loose fitting vest, jeans and a white scarf around his neck. Lucy found the color of his hair odd, it was a light pink. Did he dye it or something?

"Thanks Mira," He said as she brought him water before he left the same way he had come.
"Lucy?"

"Huh?" Lucy jumped as she noticed Levi's fingers in front of her face, making a loud snapping noise. "What?" She asked as she turned to her friend.

"You were staring at him."

Lucy felt a light blush spread across her cheeks, which she didn't appreciate since it only added to the heat that seemed like it was going to engulf her any second. "I wasn't staring."

"You were," Levi said as she leaned against the counter and folded her arms behind her head. "Right at his butt."

Lucy's mouth opened.

"Kidding," Levi interjected.

Lucy frowned as she stood from her seat, "I'm going to help Mira in the back." She said as she poked Levi in the head before bother girls giggled.

As Lucy left Levi picked up the menu again to fan herself. The sound of the door dinging reached her again and she turned to see the same boy who had come in before. Well, well, what have we here? Levi raised an eyebrow.

"Forget something?"

The boy held up his wallet, "Forgot to pay. Mira still around?"

An evil smile crossed Levi's face as she moved her head towards the rooms behind the counter, "In the back."

The boy thanked her as he passed to move into the back rooms. Levi picked up the menu again and wondered if she should have told him that water was free.

Lucy couldn't find Mira anywhere! Had she stepped out? Lucy glanced outside as the thought crossed her mind and decided against it. As she turned Lucy collided with something or someone. Looking up from her now current place on the floor Lucy saw the boy from before and felt she felt like an idiot for running into him.

The boy gave Lucy a bewildered look for a second before offering her a hand to help her up. A hand that Lucy gladly took. "Sorry about that," He said once she was back on her feet.

"No problem," Lucy said as she brushed herself off.

Silence passed between them, it was awkward, yet not at the same time. Lucy who couldn't stand awkward silences turned to the boy and stuck out her hand, "I'm Lucy."

The boy smiled before placing his hand in hers once again, "Natsu."

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

It had never crossed her mind. Not even once.

"Are you sure?" Mira asked as she sat on Lucy's couch with a glass of lemonade in her hand.
Levi looked up from her place on the floor, closing her book as she did so. "I think, no I know you guys would be perfect together."

Lucy frowned and pursed her lips in thought. Her and Natsu, together? It just didn't click in her mind.
It had been a month since she had met the pink-haired teen in the café Mira worked at. They had spent time together, gotten to know each other and had eventually become friends. Practically best friends. But the thought of Natsu being more to Lucy than just a best friend just never occurred to her.

The only thing she had really thought about since she had met him was if his hair was dyed or not. Turns out it wasn't. Of course after she had gotten her answer her mind strayed to other things, like if he ever took that scarf off, but again never to the idea of them being a couple.

She should had listened to Levi.

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

It's a typical love story
Started out as friends
We met way back when
This is just a typical love story
The boy you never wanted just steals your heart
I never saw it comin' 'til I fell so hard

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

It was so cliché that things had turned out like they did.

They started out as friends and now things were changing. They had met three years ago and Lucy, now seventeen, always said she didn't want Natsu, that she didn't like him in a romantic way.

She never saw it coming, didn't notice she would blush slightly around him until Levi had told her one
say. She had fallen, and she had fallen hard.

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

I always made up some excuse
Saying you that weren't my type
Didn't want to face the truth
Didn't want to cross that line
'til one day I saw you
Out of the corner of my eye
You were flirting with some girl
And inside I thought I would die

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

"You are so in love," Levi accused as she hugged one of Lucy's pillows.

Lucy glared at the blue-haired girl who sat on her bed. "I am not." She insisted as she pulled a loose fitting shirt over her head, "He's just a friend."

"Boyfriend."

"Shut up!" A pillow flew from Lucy's hand, hitting Levi square in the face. Where did she get that
thing, Levi thought.

Lucy sighed as she felt all the energy leave her body. Flopping down on her bed next to Levi she turned to face her and hugged her knees. "Would you stop saying I like Natsu? I mean seriously, Lev he's sooo not my type."

"And what is your type? Gray?"

Lucy sat up, a bewildered expression on her face, "What the heck?! He's a freaking stripper!"

Levi could only laugh at Lucy's outburst. It was true; Gray did have a tendency to like to take off his clothes. Which the blue-haired teen found quiet comical, since he usually took them off at the worst moments.

"Face it, Luce, you're in love with Natsu." Levi said as she pointed an accusing finger in Lucy's face.
Lucy shooed Levi's finger away and rubbed her eyes tiredly, "Why do you keep saying that?"

Levi simply smiled, "Because it's true. You're just too scared to face the true, to scared to cross the line to take things farther. Luce I don't think Natsu would object if you asked him out."

Lucy's eyes went wide as she listened to her best friend before they closed slowly only to open again so she could stare at her feet, "Don't say things like that, Levi." Lucy said as she looked back up with a smile, "I just might believe you."

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

Sunlight streamed into the room the next morning. Lucy yawned and stretched her arms above her head before accidentally kicking Levi in the face, causing the teen to jump up and scream something along the lines of 'No they're my fat cakes! MINE!' Lucy came to the conclusion that she must have been having a good dream.

Levi rubbed the place Lucy had kicked and looked in a mirror, "If I have a bruise later today, you die."

Lucy laughed as she emerged from her closet and grabbed a hand bag, "Whatever. You coming?"

"Duh!"

Saying the mall was crowded was an understatement, if it had any more people in it, it was going to freaking explode. Levi and Lucy desperately clawed their way through the crowd. They shouldn't have come on a day the whole mall was having a fifty percent discount. But they'd be idiots if they did that.

"Lucy isn't that Natsu?"

Lucy turned a smile on her face as Levi pointed out the pink-haired teen. She was smiling until she saw the girl laughing next to him.

Lucy's mouth opened slightly, she had meant to say something, but had instantly forgotten what it was. Instead what came out of her mouth was, "Who is she?"

"Hmm?" Levi looked back towards Natsu and the girl, "Oh that's Lisanna, she's Mirajane's little sister."

Lucy nodded as she grabbed Levi by the arm tightly, pulling her in the opposite direction of the heart crushing scene that had just unfolded before her. It was then that Lucy knew, she knew she was in
love with Natsu.

Maybe she had always knew.

It was just too bad it took having her heart torn to shreds for her to figure it out.

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

Can't believe it's happening
When I least expect it
My prince under disguise
How you fooled me with those eyes
When I feel like letting go
In your arms is where I know
I am wrong
From the beginning we always belong

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

New year's changed her life. Not just because it was a new beginning a chance to start things over.
It changed because he had kissed her.

It wasn't long or even remotely romantic in Lucy's mind. It was just a fleeting thing of the moment. But it was enough to get her heart racing and for her to pass out only a few seconds later.

Lucy groaned and rubbed her head as she lay in a white bed. She glanced around, confirming she was still at the café when she saw Mira and Levi through a window. Her head was pounding. She chuckled; who knew that café's had beds in the back?

"Luce? You ok?"

Lucy jumped from the sudden voice and turned to see Natsu staring at her with a concerned look on his face. Was he blushing? Placing her hands on the mattress Lucy pushed herself up into a sitting position. "Yeah, fine."

Natsu's brow pulled together as he looked at the way she held herself, putting more weight on one hand than the other. Natsu frowned, "Give me your hand."

"What?"

"Just give it." Reluctantly Lucy placed her wrist in Natsu's warm hands. He clicked his tongue and
looked at her like he was scolding a child, "What am I gonna to with you?"

Lucy opened her mouth to protest. Locking her eyes with his, her mouth just hung open for a moment before she closed it again. His eyes always confused her, they told her one thing but then he always did something different.

The blonde sighed as she took her hand back, "It's your fault."

Natsu's arms wrapped around her. He held her tightly in his arms like he would never let go. Clutching at the scarf he always wore Lucy nuzzled her head under his chin and smiled. "You think I don't know that?" Natsu whispered into her blonde, vanilla scented hair. "Lucy I love you."

And she loved him. She knew, whenever she felt like letting go he would be there for her. Being in his arms always made her change her mind. They belonged together.

This time his eyes didn't lie to her.

O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

It's a typical love story
Started out as friends
This is how it ends
This is just a typical love story
The boy you never wanted just steals your heart
I never saw it comin' 'til I fell so hard
O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~O~o~

This is their love story
I've realized that I have a tendancy to rush my ending. I gotta stop doing that.

Let my just say that I love gray and it is funny when he strips when he souldn't

Let me also say that truthfully I can't stand Natsu and Lisanna as a couple. No I just can't stand it, them together makes me want to break something. ^_^
